In 2012, the Center for Advanced Studies in Management (CASiM) in Founding at HHL - Leipzig Graduate School of Management awards the Heribert Meffert Awards for Master Theses for the first time. These awards will honor three graduates from German or international universities that have written excellent master theses in the areas "Trust and the Theory of the Firm?, "Trust and Markets? or "Trust in Innovation?, respectively.

The Heribert Meffert Awards in these three categories are each endowed with a monetary award of 1000 Euros, and the awards will be handed out at the CASiM Conference "The Role of Trust in Business Economics? on June 28, 2012, in Leipzig. The three areas "Trust and the Theory of the Firm?, "Trust and Markets? and "Trust in Innovation? are the topics of this year's CASiM Conference. The three winners of the awards will be invited to attend the conference, and travel and accommodation support of up to 650 Euros will be available for each winner of an award.

The awards are closely connected with the first academic Dean of HHL after its reestablishment in private sponsorship in 1992, Professor Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Heribert Meffert, who is also a board member of CASiM. The Heribert Meffert Awards will be awarded on an annual basis for master theses that develop novel research ideas with a strong theoretical foundation on the topics of the annual CASiM Conference. The master theses can be written in German or English.
Applications for the awards can be submitted until May 01, 2012. Center for Advanced Studies in Management (CASiM) in Founding

CASiM is an interdisciplinary international research center at HHL - Leipzig Graduate School of Management, focusing on "business administration for the 21st century?. Within the three main topics of CASiM, "The Role of Trust in Firms and in the Economy?, "Change Management in Firms and the Economy? and "Urban Dynamics and Locational Competition?, the combined knowledge from the different subdisciplines of business administration and economics will be applied. Das Center for Advanced Studies in Management (CASiM) in Gründung der Handelshochschule Leipzig (HHL) vergibt 2012 erstmalig den Heribert Meffert-Preis. Mit dieser Auszeichnung sollen drei Absolventen deutscher wie auch internationaler Hochschulen geehrt werden, die sich in ihrer Masterarbeit mit den Themen "Vertrauen und die Theorie der Firma", "Vertrauen und Märkte" bzw. "Vertrauen in Innovationen" befassen.
Der Heribert Meffert-Preis in den drei genannten thematischen Kategorien ist mit jeweils 1.000 Euro dotiert und wird im Rahmen der CASiM-Konferenz "The Role of Trust in Business Economics" am 28. Juni 2012 in Leipzig verliehen. Bei den drei Themenbereichen "Vertrauen und die Theorie der Firma", "Vertrauen und Märkte" und "Vertrauen in Innovationen" handelt es sich um die Schwerpunktthemen der diesjährigen CASiM-Konferenz. Die drei Gewinner der Heribert Meffert-Preise werden zusätzlich zum Preisgeld zur CASiM-Konferenz eingeladen und erhalten jeweils einen Reise-/Hotelkostenzuschuss von bis zu 650 Euro.
Die Auszeichnung ist eng mit dem ersten wissenschaftlichen Rektor der Handelshochschule Leipzig (HHL) nach ihrer Neugründung 1992 in privater Trägerschaft, Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Heribert Meffert, der auch Board-Mitglied von CASiM ist, verbunden. Der Heribert Meffert-Preis wird jährlich für Masterarbeiten vergeben, in denen innovative und theoretisch fundierte Forschungsansätze zu den Themen der jährlichen CASiM-Konferenz entwickelt werden. Die Masterarbeiten können auf Deutsch oder Englisch verfasst sein.

CASiM ist ein bereichsübergreifendes internationales Forschungszentrum an der Handelshochschule Leipzig (HHL) für die Betriebswirtschaftslehre des 21. Jahrhunderts. In die drei Themenbereichen von CASiM, "Rolle von Vertrauen in Unternehmen und Wirtschaft", "Management von Wandlungsprozessen in Unternehmen und Wirtschaft" sowie "Stadtökonomie und Standortwettbewerb", fließt das gesamte Know-how der unterschiedlichen Teildisziplinen der Betriebswirtschaftslehre und Ökonomie ein. Dabei strebt CASiM auch einen interdisziplinären Blickwinkel an und sucht das Gespräch und die Kooperation mit den Vertretern anderer Fachrichtungen.

Trust is one of the crucial foundations for the successful exchange and interplay of economic actors. Trust has a great influence on the intra-firm and inter-firm interaction of employees, management, customers and financiers, and hence on the efficiency and prosperity of the national economy. In spite of the necessity of economic rules, regulations, compliance and contracts within firms, on the market and in the national economy, there can be no doubt that true efficiency and sustainability require trust. Our current economic and financial crisis demonstrates clearly how important trust is and which problems arise on the market and in the national economy if trust is violated or even lost.

We believe that trust has not been adequately discussed in the economic sciences and that the trust research in other scientific disciplines has not been sufficiently incorporated into economics. To remedy this problem, HHL - Leipzig Graduate School of Management and the Center for Advanced Studies in Management (CASiM) will organize a one-day scientific conference on the topic "The Role of Trust in Business Economics" on June 28, 2012.
The conference will take place in Leipzig (Germany) and will run three panels with talks on the following topics:

Es hat große Bedeutung für das inner- wie zwischenbetriebliche Zusammenspiel bei Mitarbeitern, Kunden und Financiers und damit für die Funktionsfähigkeit und das Prosperieren einer Volkswirtschaft. Bei aller Notwendigkeit von Regelwerken und Verträgen innerhalb des Unternehmens, im Wirtschaftsleben bzw. in der Volkswirtschaft erweist sich Vertrauen zum Zwecke der Effektivität und Nachhaltigkeit als notwendig. Gerade in der aktuellen Wirtschafts- und Finanzkrise wird deutlich, wie wichtig Vertrauen ist und welche massiven einzel- und volkswirtschaftlichen Probleme durch den Verlust von Vertrauen entstehen können.

Wir sind der Ansicht, dass das Thema Vertrauen in den Wirtschaftswissenschaften noch nicht tiefgehend genug und auch nicht unter hinreichendem Einbezug der Ergebnisse anderer Disziplinen betrachtet worden ist. Daher veranstalten die Handelshochschule Leipzig (HHL) und das Center for Advanced Studies in Management (CASiM) am 28. Juni 2012 eine eintägige wissenschaftliche interdisziplinäre Konferenz zum Thema "The Role of Trust in Business Economics". Die Konferenz wird in Leipzig stattfinden, und es wird drei Panel mit Vorträgen zu folgenden Themen geben:
